LSOH meeting 3:
LSOH meeting three:
15/04/2021
To start off this meeting, we discussed the designs of the girls we had created after the previous meeting and discussed the similarities within the designs. This included: the hairstyles (such as space buns and braids) and the colours used (this mainly consisted of browns). Paige Goodings, Stephen Allenden and I worked as a team to create a design for one of the girls that included brown eye makeup and lip colour as well as a dropped eye look with some pigtails as the hair.
After that, we had delegated the task of practicing some of the makeup for the character Audrey Two to gain a clearer idea of which colours would compliment each other as well as work on the stage (such as the intensity of the colours). This also helped us to demonstrate good time management skills as we only had a couple of hours to finish the makeup to the best of our ability before attending the first rehearsal of the production. We also had to take pictures of the makeup and send them onto the Teams chat for them to be made into a small moodboard to show to the actors and director.
This image shows the different ideas we had for the lips. This included blood splatter, a smudge of blood and how the lips could develop through the changes (the three images on the left), getting bigger as the character develops throughout the show.
This next image shows the two different ideas we had for the contour. The image on the left shows what the character could look like with only green contour, whereas the image on the right shows what the character would potentially look like with purple/pink contour. Since we planned on doing green eye makeup, we had all agreed that the purple/pink contour would be a better choice however, both options were still presented to the director.
This image shows the four different ideas we all had for the type of eyeshadow that could be used. The image on the top left shows a mix of red and green eyeshadow with a dropped eye and eyeliner. The image on the bottom left shows green and yellow eyeshadow with black eyeliner and a dropped line below the eye as well as using black liner to accentuate the inner corner. The top right image shows dark and light green eyeshadow used with white liner in a triangular shape to accentuate the inner corner of the eye. The image on the bottom right shows light green, dark green and a small amount of red eyeshadow with black eyeliner, dropped bottom line, false lashes drawn on using eyeliner and an accentuated inner corner.
Once someone got to a certain stage of the makeup (such as showing ideas for the changes), we all gave our feedback on whether it was suitable/if anything needed changing. We also took pictures for each other at the different stages of the makeup and sent them onto the chat on Teams. Once we had sent all of the images over Teams, Nina (our tutor) categorized them all onto different pages and printed them off in preparation to be shown to the director. This showed teamwork and collaboration as we all contributed to both doing the makeup and giving feedback on it.
Once all the pages had been printed off, we headed over to watch the first rehearsal of Act 1. Once we had watched the rehearsal, Emily, Kassie and Paige presented our moodboard and ideas to the actors and the director, discussing what they had in mind for each character. This can be seen in the images below.
We collaborated with the actors and they gave us all feedback on what makeup they had in mind for their character(s):
The actress playing Mrs Luce pictured her character to be on the more glamorous side.
The actress’ who would be playing The Girls wanted matching makeup with different variations of ‘space buns’ for their hair.
The actress playing Audrey wanted to have glamorous makeup, but because of her character’s story, the makeup couldn’t be too glamorous.
The actress playing Audrey Two wanted to have drag style makeup to match the character.
The image above shows the design for the outfit Audrey Two would be wearing on the production nights, as well as the colour she would be dyeing her hair (she had planned to go a ginger/red colour as well as keeping it long). This helped us to plan the hair and makeup further, especially the colours we could use to compliment the costume.
