The Witches production meeting 5
The Witches production meeting 5:
06/10/2021
To start this meeting off, we each went around and discussed our previous research findings of how to wrap hair successfully for bald cap applications. I found out that, on an actor with long hair, you would tie the hair into a low ponytail and tuck it into the actors outfit. For medium length hair, you could hairspray back the front of the hair, then take separate pieces and gel/hairspray them around the head evenly for a smooth finish. For short hair, you could just gel the hair back to make it as flat as possible.
Once we had discussed how to prep the hair and had been shown a demonstration, we got to work in
practicing the ponytail method in pairs. Leah and I worked together to apply a bald cap onto Isobel, as
well as practicing sticking it down with spirit gum and blending out the edges with latex to get a seamless
finish.
The images above show the bald cap on Isobel. Leah worked on the left side and U worked on the right
side. This shows good collaboration/teamwork and practical skills as we worked together to slick the hair
down, apply the bald cap and blend the edges, giving each other a side to work at.
Once we had done this, we all went to the studio upstairs to discuss the bald cap ideas with the actors,
this included what they will look like, the products we will be using to apply them, if anyone has any
problems with the products (latex especially) and what we expect of them (this includes making sure
they come in with clean hair on both days). It is important to give this information as we will need to
know in advance if anyone has any problems with this idea.
Once we had finished for the day, I took the time to get as many latex patch tests done as possible
(since some of the actors who will need it had left already). I got 8 done in total, and none of them had
a reaction. Therefore, I wrote down the name of the actor and whether or not they had a reaction to the
latex.
