Also talked about pro and cons of a photographer (if we did it ourselves, could manage our own time, if we had a photographer, we would have to get them all done within like a couple days)

To start this meeting off, we discussed as a group our options for photo outcomes. We discussed the pros and

the cons of both taking the photos ourselves in comparison to hiring a professional photographer. We came to

the conclusion that if we hired a photographer, we would have to get all of our makeup done within the space

of a couple days, considering the cost per day and the amount of time the photography sessions would last

(especially how the photographer would also have to wait around for each of us to be done with our makeup)

the overall cost and stress of rushing the makeup would be a bit too much for us, this would also affect the

outcome of our makeup negatively. However, if we took the photos ourselves, we would be spending less

money, even though we would need to replace/buy new equipment, we would be able to better plan our time

when it comes to creating our makeup looks such as which day(s) we will each be doing them on and, since

we would be able to do this over the course of a week, we would be able to take our time, therefore the

outcome of the makeup/photos would be much better as a result of this.

Following up on this discussion, we talked about what we would need to produce a good photo outcome, this

would include our lighting options, backdrops and the camera we use. Therefore, we decided to go and do

our own individual research on each of these aspects to see if our options would be cost-efficient in

comparison to hiring a professional photographer. I did this by creating a list of different links with prices

and website names under each item section to provide an idea on how much these would cost all together.

I also added in an extra section on studio photography tips to give me a better idea on whether or not this

would be achievable for us to get the best quality photos.

The images above show the research i did into the topic of photography.

Once we had gathered this information, we all headed back to the room at 3pm to discuss what we had

found. Since we had all been researching the same topics, we found the same/very similar

information/product prices and had decided that taking the photos ourselves would be much more

cost-efficient than if we had hired a photographer, and began making a list of items that would need to be

added onto the budget (such as: a new backdrop in either grey or white and a reflector board). Following this

discussion, we shared our ideas on how we will go about creating our own magazine prints. This included

what we would put in them (such as a ‘what’s in my kit’ page, a tutorial page and/or a ‘look progression’ page)

and where we would go to get them printed, mainly looking at online stores.

9-9:30 group discussion - talked about budget
9:30-10 I did the moodboard for the third character
10-12 I looked for all the materials I will be needing so far - made a document of links and
prices and made a note of what I’ll need to add to the budget
12:30-2 worked on blog

From 9-9:30, we had a group discussion. During this, we mainly spoke about the budget: what we need to add

in terms of classroom materials, makeup we need to stock up on and if anyone else needs anything adding for

their own individual project/to start thinking about, if they need something, what they need so that the budget will be completed before next week.

Once the meeting was over, I began gathering images for a moodboard I created for my third character idea,

Undyne from the video game Undertale.

The image above shows the third and final moodboard for the character I will be using, Undyne from the

popular pixelated video game Undertale. I created this because it will give me an idea on how to turn this

pixelated character into an actual person, especially by taking inspiration from different cosplayers and fanarts

made of Undyne.

Then, once I had completed the moodboard and noted down my ideas for the design page, I made a list of all

of the materials I needed to buy for each character to ensure I will be ready to do the final look in 9 weeks time.

This included synthetic wigs for each character, materials needed to make certain parts of the costumes and

jewellery.

The image above shows the list I made of different options for each material I need to buy, so that I can

manage my budget and spend as little as possible. I also added links to each item in order so that when I do

buy some of them, I know how to get back to those exact ones.
